The Mahidol University Library and Knowledge Repository has delivered a total of 999 pieces of old underwear to Sabina for conversion into clean energy.

SABINA Public Company Limited received a donation of 999 pieces of old and worn-out lingerie from the Mahidol University Library and Knowledge Center to be included in the “New Life BRA CYCLE: Transforming Old Bras into Clean Energy” project. This initiative aims to repurpose expired lingerie into valuable forms of renewable energy while helping to reduce the amount of textile waste that needs to be landfilled.

The handover ceremony took place on August 3, 2026, during the Mahidol Library & Green Fair 2026, organized by the Mahidol University Library and Knowledge Center from August 3 to 7, 2026, at the Creanovation Space, 2nd floor, Mahidol University Library and Knowledge Center, Salaya.

The event was honored by the presence of Professor Dr. Warapong Manaskeawit, Vice President for Academic Affairs and Academic Services of Mahidol University, who presided over the opening ceremony, along with Ms. Angkana Inthrapanich, Deputy Director for Administration and Quality Development of the Mahidol University Library and Knowledge Center, as the project chairperson, who reported the objectives of the event.

On this occasion, Ms. Wachirawan Yaemsri, Chief Operating Officer of SABINA Public Company Limited, along with her team, represented the company in receiving the 999 pieces of old and worn-out lingerie collected by the Mahidol University Library and Knowledge Center from staff, students, and participants in the project for appropriate management under the New Life BRA CYCLE project. The donated lingerie will be sent for co-incineration to be transformed into renewable energy for production processes, helping to reduce the use of fossil fuels from natural resources and decrease the amount of textile waste that could impact the environment.

In addition to collecting old and worn-out lingerie, the Mahidol University Library and Knowledge Center also plans to expand collaboration with SABINA in the future by collecting new, unused lingerie, such as items purchased in the wrong size or those that cannot be used, to be handed over to SABINA for appropriate distribution to those in need.

The Mahidol Library & Green Fair 2026 was held under the concept of promoting learning alongside sustainable development through academic activities, knowledge exchange, and social and environmental initiatives from partner networks, such as donating books and learning materials to schools in Nakhon Pathom Province, delivering used paper in the “Paper Home” project, and collecting plastic bottle caps to support the Green Library project.

The donation of old lingerie reflects the collaboration between the education sector, the business sector, and the public in valuing resources while jointly reducing textile waste and raising awareness about the proper management of expired items.

SABINA is ready to advance the “New Life BRA CYCLE: Transforming Old Bras into Clean Energy” project and continuously expand collaboration with various organizations to convert old lingerie into new energy while delivering positive value to society and the environment sustainably.
